About the Phantasy Series

Phantasy Series is an exploration of the memories that make you and the future expectations that draw you, and how it impacts your present self. Surrealist and illustrative, the phantasy takes you to another world inside the mind of a young adult trying to find their true self. By stripping away the noise, one can see the pivotal memories that shape how we see ourselves in our current iteration. In To the Moon and Back, the little kid who used to play under her favorite tree learned that a spider crawling on her arm wasn't scary; it was natural and beautiful. Travel By Candle Light is the current moment, walking out of the dark and towards the options in front of her, afraid she won’t be able to catch a single one. Phantasy is the poster image, but it is also a cliff hanger, and I wonder where she will go next.

My current project is To the Moon & Back. As a child I used to play in an enormous empty field where nature stayed un-compromised. Tall pines as far as the eye can see act as the border, or the barrier, that, when you walk past the field, feels protected and sacred. In the middle of the diverse grasses is a single oak tree. This is the anchor, where children gather for shade and play. The possibilities were endless. I could be a princess on a perilous journey, or the knight ready to fight to the death for my one true love. On my own, I was able to focus on the plants and animals that inhabited the space. I learned that the spiders were patient, the bees were busy, and the quail and her chicks had places to go and people to see. The plants breathe and drink and sweat, and are as alive as I am. The color green became my favorite, and little did I know I was just a sapling. How did my mother measure the amount of love she had for me? To the Moon & Back.
